Please remember to take care of Quizzes 27 and 26 if you have not already done so.  This is IMPERATIVE for passing Algebra 1 Quarter 4.

  1. Do Now:  Consider the quadratic function y = x² – 4x + 3.
    a.  Find the discriminant.
    b.  How many zeros does this quadratic function have?
    c.  Find the zeros using your graphing calculator.
    d.  Solve the quadratic equation using factoring (show all your thinking).
  2. Notes:  Algebra Nation Section 5 Topic 9 (p. 148) – Quadratic Formula.
  3. Class Work:  “Try It!” and “Beat the Test!” (p. 149).
    IAN p. 205Quadratic Formula Find the Error. (We’ll save this for tomorrow due to the half-day today.)

Learning Target 73:  I can determine the number of solutions of a quadratic equation using the discriminant.

Hours 5 and 6:

Nobody completed the prerequisites for Quiz 27 today.  Therefore, Quiz 27 is a 0% in the gradebook for everyone.

►In order to take Quiz 27 and change the 0% in the grade book, you must complete all the prerequisites, then take the quiz in records room or during lunch.

►No homework – work on your Quiz 27 and Quiz 26 prerequisites during your homework time this evening.

  1.  IAN pp. 203-204.
  2.  Khan Academy Number of solutions of quadratic equations (with a passing score).

No homework – use homework time to get your make-up work done so you can take last week’s Quiz 26 (see Wednesday’s post).
