I am so excited to become a member of the CMA staff! As your student’s math teacher, I’m hoping we can get the second semester off to a great start. My mission is to create a learning environment so exciting that your student will begin to enjoy coming to math class, and to feel successful while here.
I come to Michigan from Ohio, where I lived for 38 years before relocating in 2011. I attended Ohio State University, obtaining a B.A. in Political Science and a M.A. in Education. I taught high school seniors, and then stayed at home to raise my family for several years, before returning to teaching in 2009. I have experience teaching math at the middle school and high school levels, and am so far really enjoying teaching the freshmen and seniors in my CMA classes.
As the mother of three sons, I share your desire for an optimal learning environment. This is not just a job, this is my vocation, and I feel privileged and honored for the opportunity to teach your student.
What to bring:
Students, please bring your composition notebook (interactive algebra notebook), and several sharpened pencils.
My desire is to work with you as parents so that all students are provided with the tools they need to be successful. What this means is I not only welcome but need your feedback and involvement. A successful class is one with 100% of students passing the class and understanding the math.
Please convey to your student that I am available in person and by email and telephone to help students achieve this goal. In addition to daily tutoring from 2:30-3:00, I make myself available to tutor after school on certain days. Please instruct your student to make an appointment with me to ensure I am there after school; otherwise, if there are no students in my room by 3, I may leave the building.
Parents and students can receive text message reminders of due dates and tests. Please visit the class website at http://MsHurleyMath.com for information on subscribing.
